Crispy Beef with Stir Fried Day Lillies
It’s the start of the summer, the day lilies have started to bloom. We have always had lots in the garden, as they had been planted a few years ago, but obviously have spread though the one bed quite prolifically. Generally, that's OK with me, they are low maintenance, easy to manage and add a splash of colour, albeit for a day. I am getting a little tired of them spreading so quickly, though, and we have dug up quite a few over the years.
So I was pleasantly surprised when I ready in James Wongs book that you can, indeed, eat day lilies. And not just the flower, which is itself sweet, but also the flower buds before they explode with the colour within.
